[ QUOTE ]
does anything like this exist for commodities? [/ QUOTE ] It seems Yahoo just added commodities, but there doesn't seem to be historical data available. But maybe xlquotes can get the data currently available. [ QUOTE ] I worked in Market Data for years, and I hate sites like these that allow people to leach off of data which is extremely costly. That being said, this is a pretty sick tool. [/ QUOTE ] You mean that you hate that yahoo gives (delayed) data for free? Cos all the tool I found does is get the data from there. I think it's pretty cool that newbs like me can get the data for free to test strategies and paper trade. Actually xlquotes is cool, but it only fetches one data value at a time (which is slow). My goal is to write some kind of scanner which will need maybe the last 15 days of data for hundreds/thousands of stocks. So I'm gonna get the data from yahoo my own way. What I do in excel is: Data>> Import external data >> then either: new web query (to get data from a table on yahoo) or import data (to get data from a csv file on yahoo by typing directly the URL) I think I'm gonna use "import data". That way I can import data from yahoo and use it in my VBA code. |

Ok, got my account with TradeStation and seriously, just wow. Their software is amazingly versatile and I haven't even gotten into the Easy Language part yet. I still do the trading using my old software so I don't know about their speed of execution but so far I'm extremely impressed (very good customer support, too) and would recommend it to anyone.
