Re: Vegas - low limit craps

[ QUOTE ] Nowhere is going to give you meaningful comps for this action-- as you point out, the bets are small and the house edge is low, so why would they? [/ QUOTE ] yeah i dont really expect any sort of comping but i was thinking that any action is better than no action and between us we will have around 4-5k. well it looks like i will be at casino royale this weekend. thanks [/ QUOTE ] Any action is better than no action, but in allocating a spot at a crowded table, you, with an expected loss per hour of $2.10 ($5 pass line bet * 1.4% house edge * 30 decisions per hour), are not better for the casino than some drunk who likes to bet the hardways and the one roll bets. |

Re: Vegas - low limit craps
Haven't been there myself, but I'm told Slots A Fun also has cheap tables.

Re: Vegas - low limit craps
Casino royale has $3 line w/ 100x odds, but they make up for it by lowering the payouts on most of the proposition bets. You will likely find these tables very crowded at prime time. Don't expect much, if anything, for comps.
CC and possibly some others down there might have line bets lower than $5 occasionally. Boulder station gives good comps and always has $3 w/10x odds, but it's far from the strip. Main street station always has 20x odds, $5 line. Other than that, expect $5 line w/3/4/5 odds as the standard. $500 is pushing it at a $5 table. Al |

Re: Vegas - low limit craps
Before being bought out by Harrahs, Imperial Palace pit bosses were pretty damm generous with $5 pass/odds & $5 come bets/odds. I built up $150 on my card a few times and used it to take friends out to eat(not sure how much of a friend I am, taking them to eat at IP).
But no longer. For perspective, I played $5 with max odds at Golden Nugget in Smarch. I took a $400+ downswing followed by a dude at the table getting uber hot and a $750+ upswing. To the point where I had upped my pass line bets and come bets to $10 so I could take better odds(345x). I played for about 3 hours. Thus far I've received zilch. Hardly anything on my card, and not even so much as a mailing. |

i thought that i would be giving them a .6% edge with pass and 3x free odds. [/ QUOTE ] That sounds about right for your combined house edge on all dollars bet. I was talking about the house edge on your pass line bets only, which is 1.41%. When looking at your action from the casino's perspective, you should ignore the odds bets, because they carry no house edge and so are of no value to the casino. Your expected loss is the same from your or the casino's perspective, because you would multiply your calculated house edge against all dollars you bet, while the casino would calculate the 1.41% house edge against your pass line bets only. |

Slots-o-Fun!!!
You got to hit up Slots-o-Fun. It's right next door to Circus and owned by the same people. They spread $2 craps at a table that is half-way on the sidewalk, which I actually see as a good thing and more fun. They also spread $1 blackjack b4 11am and $3 blackjack after.
Is it a rundown POS? Sure - anything that's really low limit is probably in the POS category. However, my wife and I LOVE this place, since we can just throw chips all over the place and not lose a lot. For a cheap place, the drink service is actually decent, too. |

Re: Slots-o-Fun!!!
I'd say you'd have a tough time even at a $2 table with only a $500 bankroll, unless you're just playing the pass line with odds. Definitely stick to the hotels in the POS category to find these tables... good advice from others on Slots o Fun and Casino Royale.

boo TI
I went to the TI last year with a buddy for a few days, and we stayed there to check out the new TI poker room, plus we both wanted to check out the new rooms at Wynn and the V.
Anyhoo, it was real late one night, probably 4 a.m. on Monday, and we went to play craps at TI before heading off to bed. There was virtually no action going on and one table was completely dead. It was a $10 table. So we asked the croupier (or whatever) if they would drop the limits to $5, since there were no other players. The dealer says "You would have to ask my supervisor," who was standing about two feet behind him yammering away with another dealer. "You mean that guy?" my friend asks. "Yup." And the dealer wouldn't even get the guy's attention or make eye contact with us. He's just staring off into space making every attempt to ignore us. So we had to play the "excuse me, sir, pardon me, um, hey, yeah, uh ..." game. Pit boss has no problems dropping the limit and off we go. Then the same PITA dealer admonishes me because I wanted to play on the opposite end of the table as my friend and commences to be a smartass the whole time. So we played for about five minutes and said screw it. No tip for you. I understand that we might not be model players, but ask me if I give a crap. I know it's your job, but it's my vacation, jerk. I wanted to see how many numbers I could hit tossing the dice off the side of his head. Meh, screw the TI. I'd rather go spew $5 chips at O'Sheas with that classy jetset. |
