Re: Help me pick a laptop, win $50 on FTP!
Dells are alright. I dont understand how people bash them. You hear more complaints about them because so many people own them since they are so cheap.

Dells are alright. I dont understand how people bash them. You hear more complaints about them because so many people own them since they are so cheap. [/ QUOTE ] yes, high sales volume will predictably mean more problems, but the issue consumers have with dell is how bad they deal with the problems. Basically once you have your computer, they have made the sale and you have to beg and plead and wait on hold for hours to get anything done when it inevitably fails. Full warranty doesn't even cover you, because they will send you refurb parts that die in a few months. When people are getting brand new computers that don't work out of the box, there is something wrong with the company. Kurosh did a thread like this awhile ago and he chose the apple macbook pro that I recommended and own myself. Apple probably doesn't have anything in your price range, but the features and customer service you get for the money make them well worth it. macbook pro example this is similar to what I use and what kurosh got, you can ebay a brand new top of the line one for ~1500 if you look hard enough. |

This is the exact laptop I have (got mine for $900 a couple months ago though). Only $640, 160 gig HD, 1 gig of ram expandable to 2. AMD Turion64 1.6 gig dual core processor, owns any centrino in my opinion. Has a built in wireless card obv. (works pretty good and even picks up my neighbors' wireless), battery life im not so sure what constitutes good batt. life but it pushes near 3 hours on highest brightness setting (don't use it unplugged too much myself only at wifi places once in awhile). It does burn dvds aswell. Overall, very fast and processor isn't sluggish or anything when opening programs. Plus doesn't take a vacation day to start up like toshiba's (atleast the one I owned and the new one my friend bought). |

Re: Help me pick a laptop, win $50 on FTP!
I have had Dells all my life, never had any problems with any of them and the customer service is awsome.
As a laptop, I have a Dell XPS and it is just awsome. When I saw this deal on the Dell website, I was pretty surprised just how cheap the laptop is for the quality. Dell Inspiron 15 inch There is a 17 inch version of this for just 100$ more if you wanted that. PM me if u choose this. |
