I'd really like to know why somebody would on average "hate" a Soldier. Seems ignorant.

[/ QUOTE ]

This thread does not deliver.

On average, one's profession is a very small component of my respect for them.

Exactly. There are great people who can become soldiers, policemen etc. -regardless of your objections to their given proffession.

Neilso, would you call a policemen who choses the job because he wants to protect people a 'liar', because the implication of his service may not have such an effect? Or if he is aware of the moral illegality of the police force but wishes to work within the system to make it a better place?

Why. Soldiers are hitmen in disguise.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hitmen do not have rules of engagement, or the UCMJ. Do you disagree with the idea of a military body?

I don't, and think it would be stupid to do so.

I thought the point was that many, many people would claim to hate police officers, but no one would ever dare claim to hate soldiers. The reason for this being cops give ME tickets and soldiers shoot OTHER people.

Could've used an apathy option, but instead I voted for how I "would feel" if I actually cared. Which gives politician anger/hate. And I voted some respect for mobster. Same profession, but I like rooting for the underdog.
