I dont understand why he overcalled the flop and didn't check/raise the turn.

Look at stacks.

Also, X told me that the 2000 bet on turn against two people was the key as to why he folded in this hand. It was screaming "I have the nuts and want to be checkraised!".

I would never have folded the hand or played it this way, but X tells me he is >95% he made a good laydown which is why I post the hand here to see what others think.

I am not a good player, but I want you to know that the potodds implies you only need to be good 23%+ of the time, and

79.310%{ KK, TT, 55, AQs, Q9s, AQo }
20.690%{ JcJh }
------
65.714%{ AA, KK, TT, 55, AQs, Q9s, AQo }
34.286%{ JcJh }

obviously AA is not always in his range, but this is just thrown in there to show you that even if he bluffs a very small number of hands (or has like KJ, KT etc.) , you should call.

yes, and what did he put "the tightest person at the table" on in order to make his flop overcall correct? and why did he bet the river when he was obviously behind?

If he was so certain that he had the nuts ON THE TURN, then why bet the river? If he's gonna put in 8K, he should be c/cing, which is also bad IMO becuase you're giving up value from any one of the many hands that you beat.

The bet/fold line makes no sense. If he thought the villain had the nuts on the turn, he should be c/f on the river. If he just checked the river, he likely makes it to showdown for 8K.

nothing wrong with just calling the raise, but folding looks awful.
