You know, based on your posting here, and based on the human desire to rip to shreds the weak, I am inclined to want to have a good laugh over your blog, maybe make a few brilliant comments at your expense.

But I won't, because you're actually just a sad case who needs help. The thing I can't stand is that you seem proud of it.

You're not good at poker, and that extends itself to not being good at life. There is a causality there.

Stop playing, seriously. When you get to the end of your life and look at your tattered existence, and you realize the answer to the obvious question is "poker," you'll be so regretful you won't even be able to die with any dignity whatsoever.

You're going to throw your life away over something YOU'RE NOT EVEN ANY GOOD AT. I know consistently winning players (myself included) who found the "poker life" so tedious and so strewn with human detritus that they don't really even play anymore. So why should you?

[/ QUOTE ]

What matters to me is the writing, not the poker. I write well about degeneracy and desperation, which is an admirable end result. Look at Jean Genet.

Congratulations on hanging your goofy hat on that never-failing refuge of imbecility, the "But Bukowski and Burroughs and Knut Hamson did it" Theory of Rationalization. Or is it the "but Keith Richards is still alive" Theory?

Stop. You sound like a jerk. Genet? Who gives a [censored]? You say it's "the writing that matters," and clearly intend to infer that you'll suffer this idiocy for your "craft."

Come on, knock it off.

Holy [censored], please don't lump Lucky Jim in with those people.

I've never really understood gambling addiction, that blog was disgusting. Why would you not want to get help?

Jimm,

I'm working on starting a blog up too, though it will probably not be as interesting at least not for a while.

Mine is: http://starnu.blogspot.com

If you want to try and generate some revenue, it will definitely take some time as you'll need to generate a fairly large reader base to make it worth while. I'm using ad sense and I'm also a Fulltilt and Amazon affiliate. Those can be set up from there site. Also, I would suggest you check out feedburner.com which will help you optimize and publicize your blog.

I also think you need to go with a different template, because the white on white is fairly harsh.

Thank you for the constructive advice. All this is new to me. Yes, I will work on both the layout, the content, and finding the right advertising/affiliate deal. I think this blog could be a very positive outlet for my energies. Better than railbirding, anyway.
