This is about our 5th hand heads up and they have all been small pots Hero ($69.30) Button :#A500AF(villian)/ ($56.80) Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Button :#A500AF(villian)/ raises to $2.75, Hero raises to $8, Button :#A500AF(villian)/ calls $5. Flop: ($15.75) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, villian bets $11, Hero raises to $26, villian raises to $60.3 (All-In), Hero calls $23.30. Turn: ($114.35) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in) River: ($114.35) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in) Final Pot: $114.35 I posted this hand wondering if this is should have been a fold on the flop. normally in a 6 handed game, even if it got to heads up i would probaly lay this down but the fact that it was heads up made me call. I am basically unexperienced in heads up cash games and I am just wondering what you guys think of this play |

Re: $50NL heads up with JJ
Why do you check the flop after 3betting preflop?
Any reads on villain? |

Re: $50NL heads up with JJ
Im leaning towards a fold without stats on player here. His cold call/bet out on the flop makes me think overpair QQ or KK maybe. Its a good way of getting paid off with more variance.

Re: $50NL heads up with JJ
I wouldn't checkraise here, lead 11 and call shove.. it's HU and you have an overpair. What's the problem?

Re: $50NL heads up with JJ
checked the flop to represent AK and have him bluff with a AK or AQ and bet his pairs smaller than mine. This was the plan but i was very skeptical

Re: $50NL heads up with JJ
I think it looks a lot more bluffy if you lead out, depends on your style but usually when I 3-bet and whiff AK I lead trying to rep strength.

Re: $50NL heads up with JJ
what thac said. HU variance is a bitch, but you can't be backing down in situations like this unless you have a really compelling reason.

Re: $50NL heads up with JJ
basically it just gets disgusting on the flop. my line would be to b3b ai, but you can check raise if you want to, just make sure you raise a lot more when you do (shoving in a RR pot).
jacks are good cos he'll likely stack off with AT and KT here + maybe 55-99, plus some draws. wrong forum btw. |

Re: $50NL heads up with JJ
Do you think he would have called that $5.25 raise with AT or KT? But on the flip side I thought my opponent would re raised with QQ or better. So i was really confused on this hand
