Here is the list of new items for the USA and Canada.

PS3
Wii
Xbox Elite (w/ Madden '07 game)
30" Samsung monitors

The web team is booked until next week. So it looks like the earliest these items will appear is August 6th.

xbox. Has the best online software by far, and has a ton of stuff you can download (movies/games/demos/tv shows/etc) and tons of players to play with.

The wii has very few games and the novelty wears off fast imo. Plus it's a party system, so if you plan on playing a lot on your own, Xbox is def. the way to go.

Depends on what you want out of the system. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are pretty traditional systems. High end hardware with games oriented towards gamers. The PS3 has a faster CPU and a built in Blu-Ray player and the 360 has a faster, more powerful graphics system coupled with a lower price and a much larger game library (by virtue of having launched first).

The Wii is designed to be very cheap to build, so there's some debate as to whether it's even a match for the original Xbox hardware from 2001. The main attraction is the heavy use of motion-sensitive controllers. If you like jumping around playing motion-oriented party games, the Wii is your system. If you want to play the latest versions of big name video game franchises, avoid the Wii like the plague.

And keep in mind that Sony just cut the price of the PS3 (following months of poor sales). More price cuts are expected for both the PS3 and the 360 (which has been around for over a year and a half without any price cuts) in the very near future. Presumably, the FPP costs of the systems will be cut to match. So you might want to wait a couple of months and see what happens.

Hardware-wise, the PS3 and X-Box are well ahead of the Wii. They're both very traditional consoles in that if you want to get good at a game then there's a lot of "hit A, then X twice, then A again, then . . . " to go through.

If you haven't played video games in a while and don't want to go through that learning curve to have some fun, then the Wii is the clear winner.

If he hasnt played games in a while maybe he still likes the classic games, and with the wii you can download all old nintendo brand games, I dont know if you can do that with the others. Also the games on Wii arent great right now but they do have Zelda, and Mario Party and during the holiday season they are comin out with Mario, Metroid, and Mario Kart. Certianly not the traditional shooter games that most systems are successful with but Ive never been good at those type anyway.
