A letter I just got regarding my scholarship
Your final cumulative GPA at the end of the 2007 spring semester is 2.653. For the second consecutive semester, you have earned a term GPA below 2.75.
This is not sufficient to renew your $11,500 Academic Scholarship for the 2007-2008 year. The Academic Scholarship is one of our most prestigious scholarships. Your academic performance is sufficient for the Recognition Award Program. I have awarded you $11,500 for the upcoming academic year under this program which requires that you maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. You must also complete a minimum of 24 credit hours each academic year. There is no net change in the total institutional aid that you are getting. The only change is the source of funds and the academic requirements for those funds. |

Re: A letter I just got regarding my scholarship
just got that in an email from my shcool...was expecting a probation semester to give me a chance to bring it up (was below the requirement by less than .1)
but now they gave me a scholarship for the same amount of money with a lower requirement... luckiest kid in the world? |

Re: A letter I just got regarding my scholarship
My mom is a world-renowned financial aid office battler, and has left every school myself or one of my siblings has attended in her wake. no matter what they give, she writes letters and calls and ends up getting tons more.
My favorite was this one though from undergrad. fin aid- "We're sorry, we are given strict guidelines when giving out money do to federal subsidized stafford loans. as long as they subsidize, our hands are tied" mom- "Well what if you switch his stafford to unsubsidized?" fin aid- "well then we wouldn't have to follow their guidelines" mom- "ok....and will you then be able to give noah more financial aid? fin aid- "one second.....if we do that, there are some available funds, and we can increase his need-based aid by $7500....per semester." mom-"So he gets 15k extra, and all he has to do is pay the interest on the stafford?" The interest, even deferring until after law school is like a few hundred bucks at most. Think my mom got a pretty good deal on that one. |
