I'm a newbie to NL too, but the books I've picked up so far are:

1) Professional NL (Flynn/Mehta/Miller)
2) NLHE: Theory & Practice (Sklansky/Miller)
3) Harrington -- for tournament strategy

So far I think the Flynn/Mehta book is going to be the most applicable to practical advice for cash games.

A river bet would practically amount to a bluff.

Probably I check the turn after getting called on that flop, with the plan of folding to a river bet unless it's a very small bet or I improve. (Mainly, I'm worried about Kx.)

With a read that UTG was very loose, I might start liking my hand a little more, but as it is, I hate my hand once I get called on the king-high flop (my turned OESD does cheer me up a little, though).

I haven't read what Private Joker wrote yet, so now I guess I'll look and see if we agreed or not.

Edit: Oh, I guess PJ just talked about books. His list looks good to me.

Seems standard with no reads. A typical player isn't likely to dump a weak king here. And you would simply be feeding more dough to a slow played monster.

I'm guessing he limped with 88 and you are cursing yourself for not three barreling him out of the pot.

First attempt at analyzing a NL hand from a limit player in the process of converting BTW. Did I do OK?

i probably wouldn't bet the turn. after turning an OESD i wouldn't want to be check raised off of it.

I think its limit tendancies like 2nd barrelling that i need to get off, cuz looking at the hand objectively now, i think i 2 barrell too much, and like charlie said, i dont want to be pushed off my draw now.

Thx for the book suggestions Joker

No. You have failed.

Nick, you're going to have to wait quite a while before I offer any hand strategy advice. I'll be the one asking questions until I don't totally suck anymore.
