Default Re: Why no Omaha8 in Indiana?

I can only say what supervisors have personally told me at the Argosy. I know the Omaha game spreads every Wednesday evening at the Argosy. 2 supervisors in the later hours have told me that games such as hose or horse can never happen for reasons such as the internals turned into the state for these games do not allow the poker room to spread them. Both supervisors have told me that the manager of the room dislikes these type of games.
This is why many poker rooms plain and simple SUCK !!!! Poker room managers run games to there liking and disregard what the general public would want. I leave no doubt that no limit games are the favorite all over the country but i believe that simply put, start a horse or a hose list or even a razz list at these establishments and rooms would have a greater chance of getting a better mix of games spread.
The Argosy is just one of many rooms all over the area that have clueless leadership. Yes they have Omaha 8 on Wednesday's but try the more challenging limit games of interest and the help blames lack of interest on why these games do not get spread.
The World Series of Poker in Vegas has a $50,000 HORSE event in tournament action. Surely a casino can get a cash game of the same sort going in there poker room with some effort. Lazyness is to blame!

Thanks for the information Buckeyes and...I couldn't agree with you more. It's really frustrating for me as a huge fan of Omaha, O8 and HORSE/mixed games.

I grow painfully tired of the same party line from room management that "there isn't enough interest" and, similiarly, from Hold Em only type guys like iron81 who have been brainwashed by this type of management.

I will never understand why leadership in rooms don't understand that variety, while in moderation obviously, is a good thing and will appeal to a wider range of clientele. And, as most of you know, mixed/omaha games will bring in probably a range from women, seniors and super skilled players from the area who know they can crush the game.

Good to know from someone close to the situation that it truly appears to go back to management "not liking the games". Don't get me wrong, I love Argosy, but they need to open themselves up...

And, Buckeyes, great point about the 50,000 HORSE event/lazyness...my point exactly. It's easy to claim "no interest" when the games are never offered. Why ask when it's never offered..I'm guessing that's the attituded of many. Especially when greeted iwth the same grufness/rudeness when such questions are asked.

If anyone in Argosy management reads this...PLEASE consider opening yourselves up to the possibility of at least offering a regular Omaha game. And, gulp, perhpas something a bit lower..like maybe a 3-6 with a full kill. WHICH, is offered regularly at the Gold Strike in Tunica and has a HUGE regular following/player list.

Thanks for continued feedback...

I start an O/8 list every Friday that I play at Caesar's IN and it rarely gets going. I know the majority of the dealers don't like to deal the game but it usually goes when I can get enough interest. I actively pimp the game trying to fill the list so we can play.

ROFL. My main B&M game is a 5/10 HOSE game and the game I played the most on my last trip to Vegas was PLO. I also enjoy the occasional stud and O8 games. The reason I know about this is that I'm in the same boat as you starting lists and lobbying the brush to start games. While I'm not familiar with the casinos you are complaining about, my general experience says that when a list is taken for a stud or PLO game that isn't already established, no one signs up. Brushes know this, which is the primary reason some won't take a list.

Also, one of the casinos that you complained didn't have O8 HAS O8. Why are you complaining that Argosy won't spread O8 when they actually do spread O8? I also ROFLed at this:

I was at Derby Lane in Tampa...that room had a slew of different games going, sit-n-go's, multi table tourneys and various other things to cater to those that like things other than hold em.

THOSE GAMES ARE ALL HOLDEM!!!

Perhaps I should clarify, they ABSOLUTELY do NOT have it every Wednesday. I called the last two Wed. and was rudely told that it wasn't being spread and it wouldn't be spread despite rumors I heard it was on Wednesday.

I think there's a VERY fine line between categorizing Argosy as "having/spreading" O8 and Argosy caving to peristent regulars once or twice every six weeks on a Wednesday.

Interestingly enough, NO THOSE GAMES WEREN'T ALL HOLDEM! NIce effort, but they had TWO Omaha 8 games going. I played in one for over an hour.

So...LOL...I'm laughing at your ROFL'ing incorrectly. In other words STFU.

Seriously iron...you realize it's all good right? Nothing personal?

Harrah's Indiana did spread O8 at tourney time and even 1/2 PLO, but usually the only Omaha is 5/10/25 kamikaze PLO. Bankroll + discipline = good time. Wish I had that : )

I'm sure there is a very high correlation between the days that the O8 game went and 1. Having more than 5 players on the list and 2. Having a dealer and a table available. Literally the only times I've ever seen more than 7 or 8 names on an "other game" list and the floor didn't at least call the list down was that there weren't any tables or dealers available. The only time a floor has refused to start a list was for 10/20 stud game in a room that had a 2-10 stud game already going.

The next time you are at Argosy or Belterra or wherever, ask to start a PLO list or an O8 list or whatever. Make sure to stick around until 10 or 11 and see how many people are on the list. The brush can't make people sign up to play games.
