imo push<fold<call

um explain plz, not that I have a big problem with it but why is calling in position so much better than pushing?

[/ QUOTE ]

a lot of the time JJ doesnt get a good flop and to call off 1/6 of our stack and then fold to a bad board is a spew

shove shove shove. shoving here is not an overbet, and any non all in raise is an underbet. calling committs too much of your stack and i cant imagine ever calling here in this spot vs anyone.

Pushing JJ is just about unexploitable if the raiser actually opens 10% here.

Even if his 5x raise represents a strong/vulnerable hand theres almost no chance of pushing being horrible here. Against realistic ranges it still seems +EV.

Pushing 6x the raise is an overbet

No, no it isn't.

250 raise + 250 call + 150 blinds = 650
If we make a PSR, that's to 900 - 60% of your stack. A push is mandatory if you want to reraise here.

I don't see how pushing JJ could be a bad play here. I don't think anyone is enough of a nit at BB t50 to raise a range that crushes JJ

It could be a bad play if your notes say "bigger raises = QQ+".

It could be an excellent play if your notes say "limp AA UTG, 5x raise 99 UTG".

Absent those sorts of reads, I agree - pushing is unlikely to be bad here. I hate unusual raise sizes when I don't know what they mean - but hey, at least you get to find out for next time if you push now.
