Catching a bluff with A9?
This call is spew?
Villain is 19/12/2.5 I believe he would repop me with AQ-AK and QQ+. 19/12/2.5 does that right? I think he would call with 77, but that is very unlikely since there's two of them on the board. The turn gives me a split vs all A's except AQ-AK, which he would repop PF. A 19/12/2.5 wouldn't coldcall A7 preflop would he? Discuss. I like it, for the reasons you gave. This is almost never a split though

Re: Catching a bluff with A9?
he easily could have been coldcalling AQ preflop. this looks like a bad river to call $100, especially since it seems that you are hoping for a split somehow.
tough spot, but i think you have to muck this. |

Re: Catching a bluff with A9?
I doubt he fires the flop w/ just a 7 so he has to have A7s or AQ here so he doesn't have to be bluffing much here (which he prob would quite a lot of the time). The tendencies of the other player in the hand are quite important here though since he's less likely to bet at the flop with nothing if the other player is a known donk/station.

Re: Catching a bluff with A9?
I'd say fold. It's very rare that A9 works as a bluff catcher with AQ77 on board. You gave no action whatsoever and yet button built a $303 pot for a reason. It would've been far better if you bet out on turn or river if you got there, which would've made folding easier if reraised. Checking is OK but ask yourself this - how often does anyone check/call 3 streets to showdown and win a $303 pot in $1/2 game?
Very very rarely. |

you def aint splitting [/ QUOTE ] why cant the villain have a weak ace, and draw the same conclusion hero drew when calling - That is that his bet could get another ace currently splitting the pot, to fold? |
