Bookmaker-------strange
so i was going to make a small deposit and this thing came up for me to answer questions to verify my account. it asked me questions and gave me choices about when my wife was born and where my brother lives. it mentioned them by name and i never gave them their name to begin with. is this normal?? i didn't answer the questions and did not make a deposit.

Re: Bookmaker-------strange
If you gave a credit or debit card, then yes this is normal. When I set up payment options before the first question I was asked was my mother's maiden name, or her brother's name or something like that.

Re: Bookmaker-------strange
they pull it out of a credit report type system.
You give them enough information to uniquely identify yourself. there are then several services which provide these type of question/answer responses using private information. Its very typical in financial circles -- you'll get it now if you try to apply for a mortgage or bank account online, etc. -P |

Re: Bookmaker-------strange
so this is their way of verifying my information instead of having me fax copies of everything to them? thanks.

Re: Bookmaker-------strange
Yep. This is how they verify that you are who you say you are.

Re: Bookmaker-------strange
so i should assume that it is safe? i guess it is better than faxing all that stuff to them.

Re: Bookmaker-------strange
I believe I've had to do something like this when filling out a credit app online a long time ago. Stuff like: did you live at any of these addresses, etc.

Re: Bookmaker-------strange
I bought some furniture a couple of months ago with one of those no interest until 2010 specials. They ran my credit and asked me similar types of questions. Where does your father live? How old is your sister?
My question is this: did they do an actual credit check for you? did you give your consent to do that? |

Re: Bookmaker-------strange
i guess it is possible that i gave them consent by clicking on the i agree button without reading the whole thing.
