Re: PGA Championship Thread
just watched the tivo'd version of the 2nd round which was pretty nice considering i didn't have to sit through all the commercials they crunched in at the end of tiger's round (good thinking on their part since everyone would be watching at that point). it was pretty damn impressive. i just sat chuckling after every shot as i watched with my dad. sick, sick round of golf.

Re: PGA Championship Thread
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I don't get the obsession with the number 62. It should be shots under par. A 62 on a Par 70 is not the same as on a Par 72. [/ QUOTE ] No doubt. I've never understood why they're talked about together. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah but the fact that it hasn't been done on either a 70 or 72 should say something, no? [/ QUOTE ] But this is a par 70 w/ a 635 yd par 5 and a 507 yd par 4. It's definetly not a push over because its 70. They make all the majors 70 or 71 now to make the leaderboard look all tough. Think about oakmont. If it played 72 like it should have...cabrera is what...-9? it doesn't look like a tough US open course anymore. Par really doesn't matter. Shooting 63 or lower on a course set up for a major is impressive regardless of par. |

Re: PGA Championship Thread
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Seriously, nothing wrong with sitting back and enjoying watching the greatest golfer ever in his prime. [/ QUOTE ] Who has the most number of PGA Tour wins? Who has the most majors? Let's talk about career longevity. While he very well may EVENTUALLY be the greatest golfer in history, at this point in time, Mr. Nicklaus is still quite a ways in front of him. BO [/ QUOTE ] Nicklaus is arguably still in front of him, but certainly not "quite a ways" in front, and really is likely behind in terms of age-for-age and field-for-field. Tiger essentially has to fall apart to not pass him. If he died today he is worst case #2 all-time and very arguably #1 already. |

Re: PGA Championship Thread
Agree, Nicklaus is by no means "far in front". Assuming things continue as planned this weekend, this will be #13 versus 18, with plenty of healthy years and opportunities to catch him. St Andrews will be hosting at least two more Opens in the next decade, and then there's Augusta. Beating 18 shouldn't be much of a problem.
The all time wins record of Snead should go by the wayside in 2012, 2013. Tiger has a shot at 100 as long as he keeps playing a halfway decent schedule. As far as domination, please keep in mind that no one playing competitively now has more than 3 majors, so the distance between him and the field is obvious. Thus, not much of stretch to call him the greatest ever already. |

Re: PGA Championship Thread
Tiger is 31. Jack's 13th major was the 1975 Masters which he won at the age of 35.

Re: PGA Championship Thread
Lol, Sergio finishes bogey-bogey, including a 3 putt from 5 feet on 18, then gets DQ'd for signing an incorrect scorecard.

WTF SERGIO?!?!?! [/ QUOTE ] Probably found a couple of okie hoes he'd rather screw around with tomorrow in the a/c than play golf for nothing in 105* heat. |
