Re-steal theory question

Right now stack considerations for re-steals are as automatic for me as I would like so I'm hoping getting other opinions will improve my understanding.

I've had two successes recently restealing from VERY GOOD players. Both players had raised 3x from mid or late posistion. Now the key reason i felt they could fold to my shove was if they folded they would still have a solid chance to win the tournament with their current stack.

The key was i thought through their position and figured they could fold based on their stack size and their skill.
