Couple hrs in to 5-10 live session at bellagio. Im sitting with about $1600 at this point and have TAG image. Villain 1 (~$1600ish too) is also fairly TAG, but definitely seems to be a thinking player. Villain 2 - Joe shmo limp happy who cares about him.
I played this weird for some reason. What do you think? UTG fold, Villain 2 limps UTG+2. I pop to $60 with AJ [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Villain 1 on the button calls. Limper calls. Flop Jx8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]3x Checks to me. (Pot $195) I fire $150. Villain 1 calls. Villain 2 folds. (Pot $495) Turn comes. 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Hero looks into Villains soul and checks. Villain fairly quickly fires a weak $200. Hero raises to $600. Awful? |

seems pretty pointless; it's not for value, it's not a bluff, and your hand doesn't really need much protection... and it reopens the betting when you have a nut redraw

Considering the dryness of the board, I think a check/call would be best here. Even continuing to bet is better than a check/raise. |

LucidDream said it best, you're going to get 3 bet shoved by anything that beats you, but you will probably fold out QJ/JT and possibly KJ. Leading the turn looks better.

B/3b is far superior to c/r here.
If your c/r is called you are left with a 1/2 psb on river. Crap spot. If he reraises, you can be sure you are behind and you will be offered ~800 to win ~2500 (3.2 - 1) and you are drawing at 8/9 outs. The fact that you manipulated the pot to even create these odds and then they are still not sufficient should say something. You fold out possible second best hands that may pay off a river bet (KJ/QJ/JT...). You stifle his options where you want him to think he has many. You are in a WA/WB spot with it heavily favoring WA. You would like to offer him the possibility to find a way to lose his stack to you. By c/r him here you essentially take the play out of his hands. |
