I don't think you understand what the effective rate actually means.

At worst case let's say she is at 95% effective use of the pill, which means that if she is part of 100 women who are also taking the pill at 95% effective use then in ONE year 5 of them will get pregnant. So if every girl has sex at MOST once a week then every time you have sex there is a 1 in 962 chance that you got her pregnant.

ohhh, thanks for clearing that up. I didn't know that's what the figures meant. That makes me feel a lot better. I'm a slightly paranoid person and it has caused me a good bit of stress before.
