The cop absolutley has the right to get anyones ID that's in your car. Telling him "NO" is very stupid.

You say you dont drink and drive like you're Mr Clean, but you have no problem smoking a joint and driving?

Theres no way in hell that you smoked a joint in your car and the cop didnt smell it...unless maybe you had the windows down for quite some time during and after you smoked it.


It sounds to me like the cop wanted to write some tickets and not the hassle of taking anyone to jail. Thats the most logical explanation for why he let you and your moron friend go.

i didn't read every reply but, as a person of middle eastern descent myself i think he handled it the right way. i have been in similar situations and refused to have my car searched and it became a much bigger deal and caused me a lot more emotional pain than it should have.

and whoever said he isn't an arab (i forgot where it is) is a complete fool. In today's culture someone who is called an 'arab' doesn't necessarily have to be from saudi arabia. its pretty much the standard term used for middle eastern people so get over it

Do you really think that if you refuse a search, they just let you on your merry way? They would still arrest him for DUI - impound the car - and do whatever they need to do legally to search it. Also if you don't cooperate they can be a lot harder on you in a myriad of ways. 99% of the time you're gonna get busted for whatever anyway. If he had really pissed these guys off they could have detained him as a terrorist, etc. and really made his life hell.
