Mid-limit Vegas tour
OK, another short tour of Vegas games. I hope to get out there without my girl soon so I play more poker.
Bellagio (sunday evening): I watched the 15 game, only saw open raises with blinds calling. Very tight play. I was hoping for a looser game. No 8-16 game, ended up playing NL (I prefer loose limit games) Mirage (monday evening): Best game of the trip was the 20-40. Most pots were 4-5 way action for 2 bets preflop. One player open raised UTG w/ 56o. Another didn't fold any hands preflop, called all the way bottom pair every time, and was one of two live straddlers at the table. Is this game always played this way? I felt like I may have been lucky that the game was this good, I sure hope it is played similar next time. Count for 1 hour 15 mins: 1 chop, 3 flops taken for 1 bet. Wynn (tuesday evening): 15 game looked like the B, with nothing but rocks at the table. I played the 8-16, which played more the way I wanted. Less aggressive than the mirage 20, lots of limping. One player sat down who obviously never sat in a live game before, made several mistakes and left down a rack. I'm pretty sure 15 was the highest limit game going. Is this normal for these games? I thought the action at the Bellagio would be much looser. I can't wait to go back and sit in the Mirage 20. Hand question: This is from the mirage 20 game. I sat down and played in the big blind. I had no idea how this game would play and half expected it to be tight like the 15. UTG raises, UTG +1 cold calls, folded to me. I have 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Is this a call or fold? I call, flop comes 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. I check, UTG bets, UTG+1 calls, I raise, both call. (good line?) Turn blank, I bet, both call. River: Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], completing the flush. I check, planning to call one bet back to me. Was this played OK? I didn't expect the game to be as loose as it was, so is the line I took good for a tight game? I wouldn't call 84s, but I felt a 3-gap was OK. |

Re: Mid-limit Vegas tour
Slow month right now. Best action at Bellagio weekend days/nights. If 15/30 is tight, check out the 30/60. Many loose players switch between limits...
-btw, you forgot to bet the river |

Re: Mid-limit Vegas tour
I'm pretty interested in this topic as I'm going to be in Vegas the first week of October and have started to play more middle limit. I've played a few times in Tunica but this will be my first time playing mid-limit in Vegas.
Does a 10/20 or 20/40 game go pretty regularly at the Mirage? I've been playing mostly 10/20 but could come appropriately rolled for 20/40 if the game is that good. Are these 3 rooms about the only ones that spread mid-limit games (10/20,15/30,20/40)? |

Re: Mid-limit Vegas tour
I don't think 20/40 is a regular at the Mirage. Wynn has the nicest room with the HOTTEST babes, but Bellagio 15/30, 30/60 has by far the best and most action.
-btw, Commerce is only a four-hour drive from any of these casinos! |

Re: Mid-limit Vegas tour
20/40 Mirage during the series was the sickest action anywhere.

Re: Mid-limit Vegas tour
Is there good action in the 20-40 at commerce? I played 9-18 there a while ago, didn't seem as loose as the Mirage game I was at. 15 at hollywood park was pretty tight too.
10-20 never went at the Mirage on Mon or Tues, but 20-40 was going both days. On Tues, there were 7 names on the list, judging from that, I'd say its fairly regular. Made a quick stop while on our way to a show. Some of the same players, but not the biggest fish. Only watched one flop, several players saw it. Additional question: are all Vegas casinos 5 bet capped? And, do any increase number of bets to a cap after a straddle? I want to say I heard Mirage increases a cap from 4 to 6 bets after a straddle, but I never asked. Never saw a cap after a straddle either, only cap was on a flop where two players had a set an another flopped a flush. 3 bets generally slowed down raisers and they would just call. You like a river bet here? Would that be a bet/fold, or bet/call? I figured UTG+1 to be drawing, and UTG on QQ, KK, or AA. Looked like a bad card to me. Is that callable in the big blind? |

Re: Mid-limit Vegas tour
I haven't played Commerce in 2 years, but it was action 24/7 back then. I live in Vegas but rarely go to Mirage, so I admittedly don't know all the details there. You're probably correct regarding 5 bets and cap w/straddle.
I'd bet the river into only 2 opps. here because a flush draw would've probably raised that flop. Chances are your opps. are making poor calls w/overcards or some small pocket pair, and the queen may have actually hit someone. Make 'em pay for a showdown! |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah I would call with this hand, but I think it is close for most players. Your flop line is standard, but I think I would bet/call the river with only 2 other players in the pot and them being unknowns. Its also close. Another thing about Vegas is that the action for mid-limit is drastically different on the weekend as opposed to weekdays. I have also noticed a difference between the day and night crowd. Obv. weekend nights are the best. |
