Let me tell you a story of when I started dealing. I'd firmly slide in bets with my sleeves rolled down. At the end of a few downs, the sides of my hands were quite dirty and my cuffs looked like I had taken charcoal to them. I don't even want to think about my fingernails.

The felt gets this way through mere slight contact with the chips. The chips themselves are a smorgasbord of germs, bacteria, and virii.

Do not ever allow anything in a cardroom (only possibly excepting food) enter your mouth. Do not touch your face (or food) without sterilizing your hands.

For the love of crack, don't lick the felt.
