Re: Are you F#%^&ng kidding me!!!!!!! Super Beat for some dude.
when the mark mcgwire ball was hit, the president/chief of the IRS waived any tax on the ball, stating that as an item of sport and so forth, it should and would not be taxed.
his 70th homerun ball was sold to a cartoon artist for 3mil by some random guy but there was no word on whether or not he was taxed. in saying this, im sure this kid will get some sort of deal. after all, hes giving 49% of the ball to his 21yr old buddy who was with him at the game. it will be interesting to see the end result. it would be a mockery of the US system to actually tax this baseball. |

Not a beat in the least. Todd McFarlane will pay like $4 million for it. He owns like every other mega priced record baseball. [/ QUOTE ] Todd McFarlane has no where near the money he had back in 1998 or whenever he bought those other too balls. Spawn isn't making him any real money at the moment and he's had quite a few lawsuits in the last few years. |

cant believe this hasnt already been mentioned (correct me if it has) One man had already thrown out an open offer of $1million for the ball prior to it being hit. I dont know where your people are getting this 600k number but 1mil has already been guaranteed, prior to the hr. Dont know how everyone missed that little fact. [/ QUOTE ] Actually I'll correct you and let you know this offer has since been revoked. Dont know how you missed that little fact. |

Re: Are you F#%^&ng kidding me!!!!!!! Super Beat for some dude.
So you're saying I should have paid $3.50 on that $10 ball I caught at a Twins game last year? [censored].
Brag: Lucky I'm Canadian otherwise the IRS would have been knocking on my door after the game. Beat: My taxes are higher than yours. Variance: Don't have to claim Poker. If I'm the guy that caught the ball I'd ask them to show me the law that says I have to pay income taxes on it, prop bet them $200,000 that they can't find it, just like they can't find the law that says Americans have to pay any income tax. LOL Directunapportionedtaxaments. |

If I found $20 on the street, am I supposed to pay the government 35% of it?

The guy will only get a tax liability when and if he actually sells the ball. The IRS doesn't determine the value of it, the market does.
