Setting Affinity on a desktop shortcut for Dual Core Vista.
Is it possible to add a command to a desktop shortcut so that when you double click it that it will only use one processor on a Dual Core computer (windows Vista)?
I have Magic Online that needs to not use dual core as well as cutting lag on FTP. Kindof annoying to open task manager every time. |

In a word: no - a shortcut is just a text file link to an application.
However what you need to do is find a freeware program that you can use to start up Magic Online with and in doing so it sets the affinity for example c:\affinity.exe c:\magiconline\magic.exe -p 1 or whatever the command line would be and thats the shortcut you create. Theres a few apps out there with pros and cons on their usage. |
