Default What was your favorite wedding gift?

I'm headed to the wedding of a friend on Sunday, and I'm completely stumped when it comes to the gift part. I'm looking for something small but personal, and everything I've found online has been awful.

I don't want to give them a toaster or a personalised picture frame. Other than that, I'm pretty open.

The last wedding I went to, I got the bride and groom a chocolate fountain. They loved it, but it's just not viable here.

So my question to the Lounge: What was your favorite wedding gift? Is there anything that you still use/appreciate?

Yeah. I hate to sound overly materalistic, but money talks. I really have no need for an embroidered rug or heart bowl from Tiffany's.

Gift cards to where they are registered (BBB, C&B, etc.). My wife and I changed our minds so many times between when we registered and the wedding that we ended up exchanging like half the things we got. The gift cards were awesome- no hassles.

A case of Bordeaux, '82 Chateau Haut Bages Liberal which is a property bordering Latour. It was wonderful to always see the wine change over the years and to always have a bottle of quality Bordeaux around the house when needed.

Cash is king.

For the non-cash presents, the Belgian waffle maker we got rocks!

Its all about the cash.

My best non-cash gift was a wrench set.

An ex-room mate of mine got married and got a store card and glued in my own writing, something like this:
On this joyous day blah blah blah blah, love blah blah. Great couple blah blah blah.

Then I got one of those money envelopes and cut out the place where the face on the bills go so you could see the bill inside and hid a hundred between two ones. Good times.
