Re: Landlord Issue....Advice Needed
The water part is pretty standard nor is the price insane.
Odds are however, that landlord tenant laws of your state say that she needs to fix the outlets PDQ. |

if it's the principal, then hire a lawyer that specializes in this. why ask a bunch of strangers that don't live in your city, and have no expertise on the subject, and aren't a bunch of uptight nits?

[ QUOTE ] I agreed to pay for water, for my unit only. [/ QUOTE ] NO YOU [censored] IDIOT YOU AGREED TO PAY $35 PER MONTH FOR WATER. HOW CAN YOU BE THIS STUPID [/ QUOTE ] No. I wrote in another post how the 35$ a month was an average of last years bill. I dont have the lease with me, but it is stated something like, "Approximately 35$ (half of water bill) a month for water used in unit". I signed something that relies upon knowing the amount of water used in the unit. Thats the issue. |

Moreover, if she just added the money to the rent, the apartment would probably not get rented in the first place. Its a competetive area and my rent is high as it is. [/ QUOTE ] Okay, so she says "The rent is $800 plus $35 per month for water" and you say "Where do I sign!?" She says "The rent is $835 per month with water included" and you walk out? Kill yourself. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] YOU SIGNED THE [censored] LEASE! It doesnt matter what she is charging because you signed your name agreeing to pay it. What dont you understand? [/ QUOTE ] I should clarified this earlier, but the 35$ a month was the average cost last year across both units. Im sure she just took the water bill and divided it by 2 for each unit. Now my issue is that I agreed to the pay (in my lease) approximately 35$ a month for water in my unit. She has no way to determine how much water I use and therefore can not bill me the total bill of both units divided by 2. I signed a lease for my unit only. Thats the big issue. My lease is just for one unit. There is no way to determine the water use for my unit only. I didnt sign a lease for both units, but rather just one unit. I agreed to pay for water, for my unit only. [/ QUOTE ] Now my issue is that I agreed to the pay (in my lease) approximately 35$ a month for water in my unit. Stop posting. This is over. You agreed to pay 35$ a month in exchange for water, there is no more too it. If she asks for 36$, or 34$ then you can keep posting, but until she does, you are in the wrong and should just forget about it. [/ QUOTE ] Jesus Christ, you guys are [censored] hostile. I'm trying to have a conversation here. Someone please address this and convince me. I signed a lease to pay for water for my unit. There is no way to determine how much water my unit uses. How can I get billed for this? This is what I dont understand, someone please clarify it. I dont think this is as simple as you guys are saying it is. The money isnt a concern, but its the principal. Moreover, if she just added the money to the rent, the apartment would probably not get rented in the first place. Its a competetive area and my rent is high as it is. [/ QUOTE ] You agreed to pay 35 dollars for the water you use. It's true, there is no way to tell exactly how much water you used. It is also true, however, that you agreed to pay 35 dollar for whatever amount of water that you use. Thus the water you end up using costs you 35 dollars exactly. lets pretend they attach a seperate meter and it says you used what the water company would charge 36 dollars for. You agreed to 35 so thats what you pay. If it reads 34 dollars owed to the water company you still owe 35 dollars becuase thats what you agreed to pay. You agreed to pay 35 dollars to your land lord, for the amount of water you end up using. She pays a different amount to the water company, she doesn't know exactly what but even if she did, you'd still owe her 35 dollars. maybe you didn't get my post before. In it I agreed to pay 1.50 for soda. I didn't use 1.50 worth of soda, however, I agreed to pay 1.50 for the amount of soda I ended up using. It doesn't matter the place is making a profit on the soda, becuase I agreed to pay it. DUCY? |
