ok, i'm giving you credit for the first point that is really convincing. there is no question that catch phrases are cool, in poker, or anywhere else. if i had a good catch phrase, i might turn chat back on.

here's some rough ideas off the top of my head:

I play with it on. I took two buyins off a guy who wanted to play at a friendly chatty table and throw money around. I know he would have left if I hadn't been chatting him up because he chided the other players for not talking much, and he told me he'd see me around (yay!). I do turn it off if someone does 'ty' or is obviously trying to tilt people. If someone is a jerk to a fish I start making fun of them mercilessly, I hate when fish leave because someone's being mean to them.

It's been getting a bit out of hand on UB recently. Took a couple of buyins off a 55/12 and he says something like, "I hope you die of AIDS." I was like wtf. So I just responded with "Awwwee..." And then the firestorm began where he cussed uncontrollably for like 10-15 min. So next time you take someone's stack and they are berating you for it, just go with a simple 'Awwee' and let the hillarity ensue.

chat for me is a way of increasing the fun.
the more fun i'm having, the better i play.

only very few players have ever succeeding
in putting me on tilt through chat... and
one of them was later exposed as a cheater
( through multi-accounting ).

i love making the occasional stupid comments
regarding misreading the board, not knowing
the rules, that sort of thing. Especially
in omaha hi/lo.
