lookin to move up to middle stakes in a lil while. got some questions.

soo... i tried to search feature, but im bad and i cant find anything.

ive heard there's a big skill gap in the 1/2 games and the 2/4 games. what exactly should i be expecting? also, whats a good BR for the 2/4 6 max games for an average player. umm... yah im sure theres been alot of threads on this but im mainly lookin for what will change so i can start thinkin about it

also, i think the new skillset is more like a better grasp of the basics and the removal of mistakes/leaks from your game.

for 2/4, i think u need more like 8k, but not less than that.

as for differences from 1/2, i think you need to learn how to be very aggressive (esp. in re-steal situations) without overdoing it / spewing (too much).

Playing 2/4 on stars with 8k is asking for turbobusto.
On some superweak site it'd be a risky but acceptable plan.

The worse you're against the field the more buy-ins you need before moving up.

I can't speak for the Stars games, but move up man, it's no big deal. If you get busted down to 6k just grind back up at 1/2 and try again.

lol, im at 6k right now at 1/2. i was just bored and thinkin about when i should move up.

also, 20 buyins at stars is easy to burn thru? ive never experienced variance like that. prolly just cuz 1/2 players donk off their money more? anyone else think theirs more variance at 2/4

there is definitely more variance at 2/4. recently i had a 20 bi upswing and a 15 bi downswing over 9k hands.

edited to add: if you have other means of income or are in college man up and [censored] gamble. can always move down if things don't go well.

8k is plenty for 2/4 if ur any good at poker. id recommend like 10-12k for anyone new to the limit.
