Places for off-strip family getaway
Headed to Vegas for a 4-5 day trip in the fall, with family. Looking for a place with a family vibe, and things that kids would enjoy (pools, playgrounds, places to run around).
Well off-strip location is fine. My plan is to skip cards all day and head to the Bellagio after bedtime. Cost isn't important. I was thinking Red Rock or something around Lake Las Vegas. Good plan? Other ideas? All help much appreciated. |

I have been told that Circus Circus is decent for the family.

Re: Places for off-strip family getaway
Red Rock has some family things such as an arcade, bowling alley, movie theatre. This is common in most of the local casinos. Hope that helps. I'm a local. Ask away.

Re: Places for off-strip family getaway
Red Rock Canyon is nice, but can require lot of walking up inclines, and there is no shade. Mnt Charleston is close and my family prefers going there over Red Rock. Also the Valley Of Fire is similar to Red Rock, only much larger and without the cliffs. Also you might consider Death Valley, you can easily see it and be back for dinner at the Belagio.
Not sure your kids ages, but you may consider the Orleans. They have something for everybody. movies, bolling alley, gambling and child care. And check out the shark reef at Mandalay Bay. |

To the OP: GVR is probably one of your best choices along with the previously suggested Red Rock casino. Both can be found at www.stationcasinos.com. |

Re: Places for off-strip family getaway
GVR is probably best, or Red Rock. IIRC there are no card rooms near LLV. I stayed at Loews (sp?) last time. Nice atmosphere, no casino in the hotel. Seemed like a good family spot. The strip is a good 30 min drive though. I'd say GVR is better since it has a poker room and is relatively close to the strip. Red Rock is a bit further, no?
