Donkey:
yeah as colin said, bruins management is total garbage. fenway park hasn't always been full, and the patriots almost left town. this says nothing about boston loyalty - when a team sucks for years on end with no improvement coming, it's pretty much a good idea to stop following them until new ownership/management arrives. |

Triumph,
Yeah.. I just generally find beef with any talk of bandwagoning. Every team in every city has the same thing. Grossly successful teams will pull in a few extra fringe wagon-riders (Bulls, Dallas Cowboys, etc), but by and large, a successful team will have a large visible presence, an unsuccessful one won't, but it'll still have strong fans. If teams are managed really really poorly, even those fans will seek greener pastures. If the Angels start to suck and management ruins the team, you'll see less fans at the ballparks and (thankfully) no rally monkeys. |

I'd put the true odds at: Celtics: 22-1 Red Sox: 6.5-1 Pats: 8-1 [/ QUOTE ] i think all 3 are slightly better than that...not by much tho |

colin,
there are teams who manage to transcend this - toronto in hockey, the cubs in baseball, and a few football teams (though none spring immediately to mind). these are held up as examples as though they're a good thing, instead of the inspiration for mediocrity that they truly are. supporting a losing team for years on end is like having a girlfriend that annoys you and won't put out - it's miserable to be around them and there's no possible payoff. |

Pats are the best team in the league, but I don't think they're 8-1. It's not that far off though.
