The oil ligth has nothing to do with changes!!!
It means you are critically low!!!
Add a quart or two NOW!!

Anything red = stop immediately, anything amber = I don't mean anything or it isn't important.

[/ QUOTE ]

QFT on everything.

OP, do you know what a dipstick is, dipstick?

Actually the oil light means you're losing oil pressure.
Which usually means you're out of oil, and will soon hear expensive noises.

I would pull over immediately and check my oil.

As emon87 said, you'll probabally need at least a qt or two.

OP needs to clarify which "oil indicator" light is on.

On my car, this could be any of 3 lights:

(1) Change Oil Soon - it's been a while since your last oil change - no big deal, just make sure it's changed before 5k miles or so

(2) Low Oil Level - this is a sensor in the oil pan that lets you know if the levels start getting low. If this is on, definitely check the level with a dipstick and refill ASAP.

(3) Low Oil Pressure (usually just an image of an oil can) - critical - don't drive your car on this at all - check immediately.

guys
It says "change oil" in amber.

I do not know what a dipstick is. I know nothing about my car other than how to drive it.

So far I get the idea that its probably not that big of deal. Gonna drive and will get oil added/changed tommorow.

You don't know what a dipstick is? How the hell do you have a driver's license and not know what a dipstick is? I hate cars and can only change a tire and even I knew what a dipstick was when I was 5.

Meh you will be fine. A friend of mine did seize up a block once, but there was at least a 30% chance he was trying. I think he ran it completely dry and still got a hundred clicks or so.
