Re: Hypothetical situation- sacking the QB.
[ QUOTE ]
Hell no. Pace or Jones would pancake the [censored] out any average Joe about 100% of the time. [/ QUOTE ] I think the average starting tackle in college would pancake the hell out of the average Joe about 100% of the time. b |

Re: Hypothetical situation- sacking the QB.
I'm 6'3 and 166 lbs. my chances are 0% and 100% of injury. Now if you ask me to D up a pass and pick it, while covering a WR, then...0% with a 90% chance of injury.

Re: Hypothetical situation- sacking the QB.
I could definitely get by Walter Jones, but Orlando Pace? hmm that's a tough one.

Re: Hypothetical situation- sacking the QB.
I've had time to rethink, I'd be able to get 3-4 sacks off of Peyton and Favre each. In fact, I'd probably knock Favre out for at least the game, and probably his next start as well. May even be career-ending. Same for Manning. One hit from me and boom, he's done. And his brother. I hit him so hard his whole family feels it. Even people in a coma in another state would feel it.

the average person would not get to the qb, much less register a sack.

Re: Hypothetical situation- sacking the QB.
[ QUOTE ]
in fact he could line up behind the line of scrimmage and get a running start if he chooses to. [/ QUOTE ] When I first read this part I thought for a second it meant you could line up behind the O line. Meaning the tackle would have to turn around and get you and you would be almost next to the QB. I still thought there was pretty much no chance. |

Re: Hypothetical situation- sacking the QB.
The way I see it is there might be a glimmer of hope:
1)Like I said, use the cheats wisely. Nobody, not even a 300 lb monster likes to be spit on or kneed in the gonads. 2) The average DE they face is about 6-5. A guy who is 5-9 or so would make them stoop really low and put them off balance. 3) I know I said the average joe, but in my case, I'm 5-9 170 lbs and can squat 300 lbs. My height, leg strength, and low center of gravity would make it tough for him to pancake me. I'm pretty agile too. I would of course not opt to take the 3 point stance, if I tangle with a guy like Jones or Pace, I'd be in for one heck of a battle that I think I'd lose. What I would do, is launch a running start, fake going to the inside, give him a swift kick in the balls, go outside and turn the corner and make a beeline for the QB. Either that, or I'd go for the whirling dervish move ala Dwight Freeney. I'd go in real low so those big arms couldn't reach me and if he did, he would most likely be off balance.. They simply don't train to tangle with smaller people. |

Re: Hypothetical situation- sacking the QB.
is the objective only getting a sack?
here's another question: would the average man be an asset in any way at all? I'd just grab two facemasks and let my defensive tackles maul though. maybe chew tobacco and launch it into someone's face. |

"Nobody, not even a 300 lb monster likes to be spit on or kneed in the gonads."
Pissing them off is probably not a wise idea. " 2) The average DE they face is about 6-5. A guy who is 5-9 or so would make them stoop really low and put them off balance." There's a reason why the average DE is 6-5, and it's because one shove from Pace would send you to the emergency room. Even after you whirling dervish your way to the QB you're still going to bounce off him most of the time you attempt a sack unless it's a blindside hit on a small guy. |
