Default Hiding IP ID\'s from poker sites

The topic of just who can play on sites that ban US players came up in another thread. The OP who has dual citizenship in US and UK wondered if he could play on Party Poker while residing in the States since his permanent address is located and PP account registered in, the UK.

The consensus seems to be no, that all accounts of players whose IP originates from the US will be locked. I assume this would apply as well in the case of an American were he or she to play on a friends account located in say, Aruba.

This raises an interesting issue. There is software available that effectively "launders" IP addresses. I'm not an expert but as I understand it there is no way most internet sites can detect it. The software I used hid my regular IP and gave me a new IP originating from Asia.

What I'm wondering is if this sort of software would be a viable end run around poker sites like FT if they ever do decide to ban American players (assuming the account was setup in a foreign country)? Would the spyware built into the poker software be able to detect your location even if you were using an IP blocker for instance?

I'll post this again since the topic comes up every 2 weeks. DO NOT USE A SHARED IP VPN/PROXY FOR POKER/EWALLETS.

These services are commonly used by scammers, spammers and fraudsters and you will be directly associated with them. I know 3 people on 2+2 who all had their Netelller account PERMANENTLY CLOSED about 3 years ago while using such a service because other people also using the service were committing fraud.

In addition, you will effectively be on the same IP as everyone else on that service/proxy, so you may be investigated for collusion.

It may be worth it for some of you, but I'm not careless enough for that.
