Best seats in a baseball park?
I'm planning to go to a pro baseball game for the first time this month when i go to San Diego.
Baseball fans: what are the best and worst seats to buy? Since I don't often get this opportunity, I want a good view. PETCO stadium seat info Thanks in advance for any help! |

Re: Best seats in a baseball park?
Well, the best seats are in the lower deck either behind the plate or behind the dugouts (sections 101-109 on that chart). However, these are usually reserved for season ticket holders and won't be available. I would just click on the "Best Available" button for the entire park and let the computer decide.
Personally, I try to sit in the outfield cuz its cheaper. |

Re: Best seats in a baseball park?
I've only been to two games - behind home plate at the Phillies park in the upper deck and in the right field grandstand in Fenway - I thought the view of the game was obviously better in Philly but I lost a lot of depth perception that you didn't get from a mostly side-on view.

Re: Best seats in a baseball park?
It's really a matter of personal opinion. I've always enjoyed the seats right around either 1st or 3rd base. I've never watched a game behind homeplate so I can't comment on that, but I'd surmise that would be optimum view

Re: Best seats in a baseball park?
IMO For the price, the best value is almost always a low row in the upperdeck between home plate and 1st or 3rd base. Like 309-312 with a low row. You can really see what is going on quite well. I got tickets like this in Yankee stadium on a Friday night last month for less than face value and was thrilled.
Obviously the best seats are behind home plate and behind the dugouts in the lower bowl. Often expensive, however. I do not like the outfield because I find it a bit difficult to see the pitches. If you are just there to relax and drink and don't really want to follow the game too closely the outfield is probably good value. |

Re: Best seats in a baseball park?
My favorite is just on the home plate side of either first or third, preferably as close as possible.

Re: Best seats in a baseball park?
It really depends on the park, but something near 1st or 3rd is usually great at any park.
Also think about who you are going to see and how that might affect you seating preference. If you are a fan of a particular player it makes sense to get seats in the vicinity of their defensive position. I also second WFDeac on the low row UD seats usually being a great value. |

Re: Best seats in a baseball park?
If you're a casual baseball fan, I would advise not wasting money on expensive seats. I've been to tons of games, and I can't fathom why people pay so much for good seats. To me, there isn't a bad seat at most parks, so save your cash.

The View Deck at most stadiums I've been to (Safeco, the Jake, Camden are notable) are usually the best.
