PS $33 - Rivered Trips but a 4-card straight is out there.
No reads.
I had no clue where I was on the flop, so I put in a bet that I thought would help me narrow his range. He calls so I put him on an 8 or 9. I didn't want to bloat this pot so I check the turn. On the river i make trips but now the straight is out there. I think I'm making a value bet but he puts in a raise that is very suspicious. Does he call my flop bet with 10 J or just a 6? Do I ever fold here? How are you reading this series of events? I felt very lost on this hand. And any comments on any street are appreciated. on the river you should def just call his bet...hes almost never calling your raise unless he has a straight

Re: PS $33 - Rivered Trips but a 4-card straight is out there.
A 4CardStrate is out there? Where? Who?!
honestly i think this is played poorly. We shouldnt open limp with middle pocket pairs, because we dont really like to see flops and open limping doesnt help create multi-way pots, it entices someone to overpush behind and I for one dont like getting it all in pre against likely overs, where theres a good chance im dead to an overpair. So..... I raise preflop and give my 77 a little fold equity to go along with its showdown value. This is a flop I bet with 77 to help define his hand range on the flop. And as a semibluff, if called I can always improve with my outs, but I'm happy to take down the pot i raised pre. Had I limped pre, I dont think I cbet here, since the pot isnt big enough to fight for given the weak strength of my hand and draw. On the river, bleh, whatever i sure wouldnt raise to 1k without planning to call for the last 1800, so i guess i would be all in over his bet. All in all I think you played every street wrong, sorry. |

Re: PS $33 - Rivered Trips but a 4-card straight is out there.
I like a raise preflop. I sometimes limp 77 when I'm in EP but in MP and LP if I'm first to enter the pot I usually raise. Flop bet is fine, turn check is ok too, sometimes I'll 2nd barrel here as most villains will have a hard time calling two bets w/ just a pair of 8's or 9's here. Once we get to the river there's really no value to raising and you hate getting 3 bet so just call. It's ok even if you got a set when the board is like this. Besides the obv 6x getting there so did JT.
