NLHU SNG basics
Hi guys.
with my first post i'll already sort of break the rules. sorry. is there any material on nl hu sngs online. i mean some basics to stick to. i am playing low limit and would say that i have an edge over most of my opponents. my basic strategy (at the beginning of the sng, i try to adaped in the game obv.) is to minraise alot. i do this to keep the pot small and to give my opponent a chance to throw his hand away. another reason is that i like to play alot of small pots, so mini raising gives me the chance to steal after the flop but never risk a whole lot of chips. after the flop i continue in 90% with a con.bet of a little more than 1/2 the pot. i do not vary that, cause i think it is harder to put me on a hand if i do almost the same with every hand. after teh flop i vary between shootin a second barrel and check/folding (when i dont have a hand obv.) are the basics right so far? is there any place to look up for futher information (i know there are a lot of hands here and i am working my way past through them). thx |

Re: NLHU SNG basics
it is fine but if the opp calls many 3x raises you should switch to them obv, same thing for 4x raises.
i like this 2x raise line against too tight opps to not burn out premium hands. |

Re: NLHU SNG basics
ummm, I believe 90% of good players will tell you that the min raise should not be used commonly with effective stacks > 15-20 bbs, so I think this will be your first major leak, but my best advice will be to go through and read many of the old posts as much of the "basic" advice will be covered

Re: NLHU SNG basics
I raise less than 3x even if stacks are > 15-20bb but I understand your point.

Re: NLHU SNG basics
i don't know why, but 2.5x raiser is very efective, and i prefer than 4x raiser

Re: NLHU SNG basics
at the lower stakes ($33 and lower) you can do this (i do) bet more with your bigger hands or hands that like a big pot on the flop. so stuff like AA-QQ and 87s/QJs. don't worry most people aren't folding to 4x pf if they are calling 2.5 or 3x. also can just pot it postflop with good hands. no need for game theory/same bet for all hands postflop. go for exploitative.
