Re: 6.5: BB special
I check the turn for pot control. I think you're behind here most of the time, check/fold the river. I'd prefer checking the turn and if villain checks behind you can now check/call the river unless something bad hits.

Re: 6.5: BB special
I also check the turn, but more as a bluf catcher.

Re: 6.5: BB special
I never check this turn - it's a $6.50, he almost always has a weaker Q or a flush draw or something worse. J9/QT/T8 just overtook - a few draws picked up some extra outs with a pair/or another draw - 22/88/QQ/AQ were always ahead but QQ/AQ are so unlikely given preflop.
I c/c this river because a combo draw with JT is very much in his range and because I think he can bluff a lot of missed draws and value bet worse made hands. Bet more on this board - if he likes it he'll pay more anyway and it's very draw heavy. I pot the flop and the turn and then it's irrelevant by the river - it's all going in. |

Say a non scary card hits the river then you can get an aggro donk to bet the river and you can snap off his bluff. I'd rather get a large portion of my chips in an unraised pot with a set or in a raised pot with tptk. Playing big pots in marginal situations is what I try and stay away from early in a sng. |

[/ QUOTE ] because that's 3 hands out of a gazillion he could have called the flop with and I don't think giving a free card to the gazillion that can outdraw us (most of them having a smidgen short of a gazillion outs) just in case he has one of the three that just hit is a good idea. |

Re: 6.5: BB special
Again, seriously.
Against this player type, doesn't he donate chips with >50% of those gazilion chips when he whiffs, vs, our paying him off when <50% of them hit by taking a passive line? |

[/ QUOTE ] I agree with everything you said, I just don't agree that this is marginal. At this buy-in they're calling down with so much that you beat - if you don't get full value the times you are ahead you won't make up the chips up from those times you are behind. Without a read to the contrary, you're ahead way more than you're behind, so going broke here is profitable. And only one player called the flop - or are you arguing that we should check the flop too? |
