NL50 flopped set, but board keeps getting worse
Villain was basically unknown at the time. He seemed to be rather loose-passive though. Button was like 44/11/1.8 over 100 hands. Should I have tried to check-raise the flop? As played, what should I do on the river?

Re: NL50 flopped set, but board keeps getting worse
He's got slightly less than the pot left behind. If you were deeper, I'd say this would be a nice spot for a blocker, but with him that shallow you're going to be priced in regardless if he raises, since there's enough chance he does that with two pair of some kind. So it's either bet/call shove, or check-call, in my opinion. Since a K is probably going to get a good chunk of money in here either way, but two pair might check behind, this is probably a good spot to bet. So I'd bet $13 or so and call if he shoves for 8 more.

Re: NL50 flopped set, but board keeps getting worse
This is a dry board, I suggest a c/r on the flop because an ace is going to bet and anything else isn't going to call your lead. It gets more money in the pot.

Re: NL50 flopped set, but board keeps getting worse
I like leading out on the flop here, and i'm probably betting this river as well. I agree with Fiksdal and think that i'm seeing 2 pair here a lot more often than a king.

O I get it AK beats u now humm... I still think this is a shove for value but yeah the T river card in particular rlly sucks.
check/fold seems pretty nitty. |

So it's either bet/call shove, or check-call, in my opinion. [/ QUOTE ] If you plan to get it all in, the only option is to shove. Bet-call is not good if he will only raise if you are beat. |

[/ QUOTE ] Maybe, but I'm not certain he calls a shove (which is the main argument for betting less, in my mind), and I think he could maybe raise some two pair hands. |

Re: NL50 flopped set, but board keeps getting worse
gump, the only reason he wouldn't call a shove with worse is because he's terrible and calling the turn with hands like A9/A8 etc. So yeah he could definitely have AK (which makes his turn call rlly bad if u think abotu it, he beats AT?) but if he's bad enuff to have A8/A9 there's definitely a ton of worse two pair hands he'll call with+ he may do the [censored] it call and call with A9 hoping basically for a split.
I rlly think this is either a shove or check/fold and I don't like check/folding versus unbelivably unpredictable fish who could very well push A8 on the end for no reason. |
