I don't see why AV would sign w/ the Celtics over the Cavs.

spurs are the champs, and still the best team to beat as long as duncan, parker, and manu are healthy.

[/ QUOTE ]

The Spurs are the champs and best team as long as Dallas suffers a monumental upset and the NBA hands the Spurs an extra victory vs. PHX. But let's not beat that dead horse anymore.

Even with Garnett, the Celts would struggle to beat Utah and Houston, let alone the top three teams. Anyone can win a 7 game series but don't think KG makes the Celt's anywhere near the 2nd best team in the league, more likely 5th or 6th. KG can't play defense for both Ray Allen and Paul Pierce...

Defensively just from what I've seen.

Rondo and KG are elite.

Kendrick Perkins is an average defender,

PP is slightly below average (prob 40th percentile)
Ray Allen is below average (prob 25th percentile)

THrow in a healthy Tony Allen off the bench, and I think the C's are definitely an above average defensive team.

Not that it will matter most games.

Perkins could become an above average defender if he ever learns how to not make really stupid fouls. However, I'm not sure he's athletic enough to do that.

Perk really struggles against quicker big men who can shoot and put the ball on the floor.

However, he is fantastic against Randolph, Curry, Kaman, and other bangers.

No, if only because I don't want to read stories about the pairing of two stars who "can't win the big game". I don't think we need him, either.

I'm really liking going after Dikembe.

I agree, Mutombo would be a perfect fit, and he can still play even at the age of 40+.

C-Webb advocates state your reasons.

fwiw, I don't think he plans on signing a cheap-o deal like he did with DET.

How does he fit a need more than a Mutumbo?
