Re: Bluff\'s online rankings...
There was a comment by the creator of the Bluff rankings that they use a formula similar to the Stars TLB.
That would mean rebuys are undervalued. And higher buyins yield more points. I was looking at several sites which do rankings: P5s, Official Poker Rankings (OPR),Internet Poker Rankings and Bluff. They all use different measures. Parts of these measures employ some variation of Buyin, field size, finish position and total prize pool. P5s also includes a "Pro poll" as a ranking factor. I'd like to know opinions on how rankings of online poker players should be done. I like parts of each of the ranking systems above. Bluff has three tiers of buyin values. So lower buyin players are compared with themselves not the high rollers. P5s and IPR have user accounts so you can link accounts from multiple poker rooms. OPR includes net $ results. |

Just stumbled upon this, hadn't seen this posted, so thought I'd throw it out there. I don't really understand how they are calculated yet, but haven't looked into it at all. [/ QUOTE ] You get points for tourney finishes. I'm not sure how they calculate them, but I got 600 points in June for six $5r PLO tourneys with 200 player fields (finished 1st, 5th, out of money the other 4 times). For these rankings, they just add up the total number of points you've attained for 2007. There is no accounting for the number of tourneys entered, so this system is heavily biased towards people who play a lot, rather than well. And wow, I'm like the 1128th ranked bronze-level PLO player. |
