QQ UTG - turn question.
I have Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG and I raise in this average 6/12 live game. Only the SB defends.
Flop: K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players, 4 sb = $30-$5=$25/$6) SB checks and I bet, SB calls. Turn: A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players, 2 bb) He checks and I check behind. Question? Should I have bet? River: A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players, 2 bb) SB bets? Call? I am getting 1-3 on my call so I need to be right 33% of the time to break even. Is it correct strategy to call the river when I checked the Turn? The problem is that he very well might have called on a flush draw if he does not have an Ace. Thanks |

Re: QQ UTG - turn question.
i would bet the turn and check the river. if he bets the river i fold. if he CR's the turn i fold as well.

Re: QQ UTG - turn question.
After the hand was over that was my thought but by then it was too late. This is because I did not plan my actions based upon what cards might fall on turn and river. Maybe next time. Thanks for confirming my thoughts.
I was representating Ace Queen/Jack by checking the flop. |

Re: QQ UTG - turn question.
Unless the SB is a rock, I call the river bet. You've invited him to throw a bluff at you by checking through the turn. If I bet the turn and was just called, I would probably just check through on the river. I would usually bet the turn and fold to a turn check-raise against a typical player. |

[/ QUOTE ] given that you showed weakness (incorrectly) on the turn, you have no choice but to call the river against most players. |

The problem is that he very well might have called on a flush draw if he does not have an Ace. [/ QUOTE ] that's why you bet the turn, to protect your hand when your opponent is drawing. I would bet the turn & check through river. if C/R on turn, unless opponent is super aggressive & would C/R semibluff a draw, you have an easy fold. as played, though, you need to call his river bet, you invited it by checking the turn. |

Re: QQ UTG - turn question.
if you check the turn it's to induce a bluff. that said, i'm never trying to induce a bluff in such an ittybitty pot. should be able to bet/fold the turn with impunity.
