lots of 'long-time' posters seem to think that linktarding doesn't apply to them. post that crap in BBV or something if you want a bunch of people to respond to your posts.

And mods can't change other mods' custom titles (last I heard anyway)

well your response is good enough for me i guess. maybe you can write up a guide to no-thumb bowling to help improve the content around here. i have no idea how to adjust my feet and point of release in the 2nd frame. wtf am i supposed to do will all those dots and arrows?

i am glad to help, but i have to warn you that i haven't bowled seriously since moving to NYC a year ago. i plan to resume when i get back to civilization. i assume by 2nd frame you mean 2nd ball, right? as in converting spares? the dots and arrows are there to help you target down the lane. you can experiment with them to find out what works for you. typically, most bowlers (thumb or no) have a line that they play for spare shots (and they shoot all 'simple' spares with a plastic ball, throwing as straight as possible). for instance, when trying to convert a 10-pin, most bowlers move their feet several boards to the left of their normal starting spot and shoot it cross-lane. usually the starting point is measured in boards by serious bowlers (they will tell you they plant on the 24th board, ball starts on the 15 and ends up breaking out at the 4, etc). i don't do things quite so finely because i am not serious or accurate. so to shoot a ten pin i start with my left foot on the last board before the left gutter, finish at the same spot and shoot my spare ball straight between the center arrow and the one to its right. if lane conditions are especially dry or oily i adjust as needed. i find that, when converting left-side spares on a simple house pattern, it's easier for me to stick with my strike ball and use a hook than to use a spare ball. for anything right of the three pin i use plastic. if the conditions are more difficult i shoot plastic at all simple spares and only hook if i leave something big like a bucket where i have to carry a pin in back.
