Re: **Official uNL Microbrew thread: July PT 2(LC/NC)**
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] So I'm finally at the SPR chapter in PNL1. The authors lay out a pretty convincing argument that an SPR of 13 is basically your worst possible position to be in for TPTK type of hands. In our typical 100bb stack 6max online games we typically raise 4bb and usually get it heads-up on the flop, which puts us in exactly that 13 SPR spot. This strikes me as pretty significant since TPTK hands (AK-AJ, possibly KQ) are the ones we most frequently raise so our most standard recurring situation is one that is explictly identified as most akward with reagard to SPR. Do we have to make fundamental changes about our approach to this game? Does anyone have any ideas regarding this situation? [/ QUOTE ] Hi all, Triggerle invited me to this thread. I don't think I can do the arguments justice here, but we will have a study group for PNL1 and then everything's fair game. I do think that current thinking for preflop raising does not sufficiently take into account implied odds or effective odds. LOVE the AK comments. Sunny and I see AK as a hand group unto itself (not sure about Ed's current thinking). It is #3 or #4 for me (AA > KK > QQ fighting with AK) and for a long while was I beleive #2 for Sunny (AA> AK > KK). We'll have a long discussion/study thread here once the brick and mortar bookstores have had PNL for a week or so. Amazon remains the cheapest and has ordered another batch of books. Link is: http://www.amazon.com/Professional-No-Li...2430&sr=8-1 Matt [/ QUOTE ] Hey, Ill take that as a compliment. Waiting for Indigo(chapters) here in Canada to buy it. On another note, I still have 0 will to play my normal cash game still. It been like that since last friday, so Im gonna do donkaments/sng/razz/stud hi/lo/omaha8...etc later for FT sweating!!! |
