6th Hand - Should I have slowed down?
6th hand of a $20 MTT. Obviously don't have a read. I am mainly worried about how I played the turn. Should I have just called his turn / river bets instead of raising and reraising AI? The more I look at it, the more I think I overplayed the hand, but how standard is it?

Re: 6th Hand - Should I have slowed down?
I'm assuming he had JT and you didn't fill up on the river.
He could just as easily have 77-99 as JT, and you are ahead of everything except 56/T6/JT. I never feel bad if I get my chips in here. Flop bet standard, 4bet shove standard. |

Re: 6th Hand - Should I have slowed down?
it is early but if ur not goin to put it in wit a set then where do u plan on getn it in. With the villains line he could easily have 77-99 as an earlier poster said.
I just dont think u can fold this hand here if hes got j10 u ran into some bad luck and just a crazy turn that killed u. I might be able to get away if it turned into a raisin fest on the flop but after the queen ball turn im not foldin. Does anyone else see a possibility of a slowplayed kk or aa? |

Re: 6th Hand - Should I have slowed down?
Meh. I dunno. I don't hate shoving the turn, but I also don't hate calling the turn planning to call any bet on any J/T/6 river, and most bets then, too. If the board pairs, I'm raising, obviously. This early in the tournament, though, T2000 is still plenty of chips, and even after a biggish river bet, T1000 still leaves you with an M of 33 or so. Why overplay? The value in making sure you don't go broke is worth more than doubling up this early.

The way he played the other streets made me think that if I just called the turn, I would have gotten away with a cheap call to his value bet on the river. He had JT, obv .. .and the river didnt boat me |

Re: 6th Hand - Should I have slowed down?
I might raise to 80 or 100 preflop since the stacks are so deep.
Otherwise totally standard. I go broke here even if I don't turn the set. |
