AQ got confused
This is a nl50 hand from memory, villain just sat down this orbit. I have AQo (no spades) in the CO, villain raises pot from UTG, everyone folds but me (I call). Effective stacks are 100 bb or close.
Pot ~ $4 Flop: Q T 5 (all spades) Villain pots, hero calls Pot ~ $12 Turn: 7 (not a spade) Villain pots, hero...? Didn't like to 3b pre against an unknown, didn't like to raise the flop as it would feel like I turned my hand into a bluff. Truly hated villains pot-sized lead on turn. |

Re: AQ got confused
i dont like cold calling with AQ offsuit PF against a raise from an unknown UTG. I'm folding preflop.
As played, I'm calling on the flop and folding on the turn. No point playing a big pot ehre and with a pot sized bet on the turn u have to give the villain credit for a hand better than TPTK. |

Re: AQ got confused
Why 3-bet pre?
How much do we raise on flop? $12-14? |

Re: AQ got confused
Against unknown villain, I give him credit for a very strong hand raising from UTG, and fold AQo. Remember gap theory - you need to have a stronger hand to call a raise than to raise in the first place. I would probably play AQs, but AQo is a fold.
I don't dislike a call on the flop (he might just be c-betting with nothing), but since he continues to fire strong on the turn, it's a clear fold. TPTK is not strong enough given his bet sizing and the fact that there are three spades on the board. |

Re: AQ got confused
Yeah, the main problem in this hand seems to be me not giving villain enough credit. I agree with everything you said.
