Need a new set of irons
I was just wondering which irons would be the best investment. I currently shoot high 80s to mid 90s and have been using a "beginners" set of fairway irons for the past 8-9 years (I'm 20 now). I was just wondering which irons i should look into.
Thanks |

Re: Need a new set of irons
A solid set of game-improvement irons. You didn't give a price range and there a lot of good iron sets.
-Callaway X-20 -Taylor Made R7 XD ( i have these) -Cleveland CG4 GO out and hit a bunch of different manufacturers game improvement sets and buy what feels the best to you. |

Re: Need a new set of irons
I don't really care about the price, I want a good set that will improve my game and will last a fairly long time. Any other suggestions? And how do you like the irons you currently own?

Ill 2nd these, they are what I have, much better than the tinfoil thin, 20 year old set my dad gave me. They are great, not too expensive, forgiving, and pretty easy to hit. I also have taylor made woods/hybrids/driver, and liek them too. |

Re: Need a new set of irons
I'd suggest going to a pro and getting fit for some clubs rather than just buying a set off of a shelf.
If you find a brand you like you can usually find a local authorized dealer that can fit you and order your clubs from the factory. |

wtf would a 25 handicap need forged for? [/ QUOTE ] Forged isn't what it used to be. That being said I would highly reccomend you go get fit for a set of clubs that a reputable club maker will construct for you. They won't be name brand, but you will hugely improve by having them fit for you. If you want name brand, I'd still reccomend getting them fit for you. |

wtf would a 25 handicap need forged for? [/ QUOTE ] It was too late after I bought my clubs, because everything I have read told me to buy cavity because of how much easier they are to hit, but now I kind of regret not buying forged. I started off knowing nothing about how to play, and just played by trial and error. I think that since I started actually reading and practicing, Id be better off with forged because Id never have to transition if I get good enough to be able to get full use of forged. |

Re: Need a new set of irons
go ask any pro what kind of clubs a 25 handicap should buy, it's not going to be forged players irons.
YOu would not like to learn with players irons, they are a biitch to hit for someone learning. |
