I am the well-documented master of passive-aggressive neighbor dispute resolution, and even I go to talk to the people about this. The problem is, there's NO time that playing drums in an apartment is appropriate, so it's hard to be "reasonable". Good luck.

During the day when noise laws permit, play your own drums or loud music.

At night, dribble a basketball on the floor directly above the parents' bedroom.

I don't think you people understand. This isn't just about the hours, it's a [censored] DRUM SET in an apartment, and it's a little kid playing it, so it's not even like decent drumming, it will be this horrible random out of beat banging. There's no way to tune that out and it will completely drive you insane.

Take a large kitchen knife and bang on their window with it.

I play guitar in my apartment, and while I'm actually half decent, I still only do it in the afternoon-early evening. Never before 2:00pm. Mostly because I'm not up before then, but also because if people are sleeping in, I don't want to be that guy. I also told all my neighbors about it when I moved in and said if there were any problems to please let me know and I'd turn it down or play at a different time.

Really, she should be playing on pads. Just talk to her parents and tell them they need to set it to certain hours.

a reasonable solution I think, if you are non confrontational, is to leave a note.

I agree though, these parents obv are not thinking clearly if they are buying drum set for kids in an apt. building.

People are inconsiderate and stupid. Don't live in an apartment, or take up the base guitar and accompany them.

I practice trumpet in my apartment building (6 units) every day - never before 9a, never after like 7p. Never had a complaint and I'm within the bounds of the law. If someone told me not to play during those hours, I'd pitch a fit.

Everyone in your apartment hates you.

Also, you seem like the kind of person who would say things like "I'm within the bounds of the law..." right before I belted you.
