Nobody knows, including the Wampanoags themselves. The deal is not far enough along for matters like what kind of games would be permitted to be determined. However, I suspect poker would be included, given the success of Foxwoods' poker room and the fact that Mohegan has decided to reestablish one.

We are at least 5 years from the first hand. No idea what poker will look like then.

I believe that if they were able to build a casino, there would be nothing to stop them from offering poker ("non-banked card game").

The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act isn't the only thing that matters. The tribe negotiates a compact with the state that sets out rules under which they can operate the casino. Harrah's Cherokee, an indian casino in North Carolina, is not allowed to have any card games at all, which is why they offer computerized blackjack.

The tribe has already asked the State for a Class III gaming license which means it will be a full casino including slots, and table games. After the State approves of this then the Tribe will go before the Feds and ask to have the land put into a trust. On the day the Feds ok it the casino begins to be built. It is supposed to be a mega-resort casino, hotel, golf course etc.

Also the casino will be built on the 400+ acres of land they purchased off route 44 in Middleboro, not the town of Mashpee on Cape Cod.

Best estimate for opening is about 2011.

Peace,
Mygtar

Hmmm. I can't see how a project this size can not suffer some unforseen delays.
