Re: You can win more at $400 than $1000NL?
"NL1000: A rate of 1PTBB/100 is very very good. 2 is about the max possible. Some people claim more but thats usually unheard of."

Re: You can win more at $400 than $1000NL?
guys not that I want to believe to that bull***t, but just to be clear, people beating now 5-10NL for more than 3ptBB/100 over at least 150K hands are much less than you think.
you can count them on your fingers. I'm talking of Stars, don't know anything about other sites' sustainable winrates. So in the end it's not so easy on the long run to keep winning like that. |

[/ QUOTE ] Who knows and who cares? You def wont be able to win whatever is the max at any level anyway. 3 ptbb at 5/10 is very good. More is absolutely possible. |

Re: You can win more at $400 than $1000NL?
The thread topic title has a lot more merrit than the actual first post.
First off, if you can only beat NL25 for 5ptbb/100, you will be a massive losing player at NL1000. BUT. I am having a similar problem between NL600 and NL1000 My NL600 lifetime is 6.5ptbb/100 My NL1000 lifetime is 4ptbb/100 therefore NL600 - $78 per 100 hands NL1000 - $80 per 100 hands Therefore, it would make sense (professional and financial sense) to play NL600 exclusively. Reasons being: same net profit as playing NL1000, less variance to achieve profits (graph isn't as spikey), and more consistent winrate at NL600. So there you have it, i should play NL600 exclusively according to this theory. ... EXCEPT this theory has one GLARING hole in it. As you continue to play and gain experience, you become better at a given limit. Gradually you're able to move up, and up again. If I NEVER wanted to play above NL1000, then the above theory works. I, however, have my eyes set on NL2000. If i can achieve a winrate of 2.5-3ptbb/100 at that level, i'll be making between $100-$120 per 100 hands, a significant increase. With this in mind, OP's theory of playing a smaller limit for an equal profit has been debunked. We play NL1000 and suffer through the high variance and lower winrate for equal profit so that we can make a more successful stab at NL2000. Doesn't matter what limit it is, the longer you play it, the better you get at it. Extreme example, say you stake a NL100 player to play NL2000. At first they will get crushed, probably -10ptbb/100. However, in a few months they may be able to play at -5ptbb/100. Still losing, but improving none the less. Cliffnotes: If you never want to play above 1000nl, then OP is correct. |

Re: You can win more at $400 than $1000NL?
I know one can get $20 per "100" (that could include up to eight tables, still the same "100") playing limit holdem anywhere from 0.5-1 to 10-20, and the same has been on my mind about nl-holdem when playing (mainly) 2/4 and thinking what's the point of playing 5/10 with triple fluctuations (also noting the lower win rate).
The point is however that one needs to move up any time one doubles the bankroll (plus some) as if one does not do that, one has made the biggest mistake a poker player can make. Comparing the bets and win rates of 2/4 to 25/50, one should see the point, and the bankroll is no problem as one just builds it bigger or moves down when losing half of it, the bankroll not ever being a problem if one is ready to move up and down accordingly. How much one wins at no-limit from 25NL up to 200NL is moderately from 10 PTBB/100 to 5 PTBB/100; if someone says he is winning double that (online, one table) then maybe he is. I predict 2.5 to 5 PTBB/100 for any limit up from those, meaning at least five big blinds per 100 hands (per hour). |
