Default FTP 55K: AA against loose maniac early

Villain is phat_cat, who I read as a loose donkish maniac. He could have almost any two here; should I shut it down on the turn because he hit two pair or something, or commit myself to this pot and bust his A-rag?

You shouldn't post in HSMTT if this is the extent of the reasoning you're going to post. You realize picking a specific hand to put someone on is a futile exercise, right?

Anyway... I don't agree with the read on phat_cat, in general, and I call because this line is the sort taken by someone who doesn't want a call. I also raise more preflop because someone who raises 5x isn't folding.

there's good calls, easy calls, insta calls, turbo calls, snap calls, and then there's this.

I partially agree with Nath.

phat_cat's line is strong, but the cc-flop/lead-turn isn't for value, it's more for protection of a made 1-pair hand.

Sorry Nath, you're right.

I think Phatcat's line here is that he raises utg, mp reraises him, you can put mp reraising on JJ+,AK. If that is the range, I think that phatcat only leads with a set here. I don't think he would raise 66 utg+1, so I'd put him on 88 or 1010 here.

When phatcat hammers all in on the turn, he shows the strength of his hand- hero reraised pre, reraised the flop, and phatcat is still shoving into him.

It sucks to fold AA on a board like this, but this was early in the tourney so I think it is a fold. That being said, I'd have a hell of a time finding the fold button myself here.

OP, What did PHatCat have?

That's pretty good reasoning, but I do think he could have JJ-KK here, and I also think he's more likely to check/call all-in on the turn with a set than an overpair.

Folding here would be terrible.
