Re: Jacks no good here?
Maybe not, but at this point, im not throwing them away yet.
Turn card brings alot of possibilities...lets check it out. its only a pot sized bet..after the raise. |

Re: Jacks no good here?
I would probably fold, but I'd hate myself for it. It's a draw heavy board, so SB could easily have a straight or flush draw, but I'd be surprised if a 14.7/2.9/oo UTG raised into the pre-flop raiser without a good hand. If I feel that UTG could do this with A9, it's a call for me. Otherwise, it's a fold.

Re: Jacks no good here?
I don't like getting a cheap card here, what are we drawing to? If we think were behind the only thing that can save us is probably a J, so may as well fold. If we think were ahead we don't want them drawing to a straight or flush, make it at least 10 to go.
I'm not sure if you are ahead, follow your read and either raise or fold. |

Re: Jacks no good here?
First, we may be ahead...probably not, but possible.
Second, sure we could get a T to help us, a spade might scare everyone off, and an ace could do the same thing after our call. Obv a Jack is the nuts. Id call a pot sized bet, so Id call this small raise. If he is strong, then he made it cheap enough to catch a card that could stack him. |

Re: Jacks no good here?
I have a feeling your jacks are still good and you are ahead. The SB looks to me he hit a pair, probably eights. UTG looks like he is on a FD or straight draw. So it makes sense to call what's essentially a pot size bet and see what the turn brings. So far you have top pair and a back door straight, and you have position; so calling the flop makes sense to me.

Re: Jacks no good here?
Could be the opposite, too. SB looks to me like a FD trying to sweeten the pot and block against a bigger bet. UTG could interpret this as weakness and minraise to take the pot down with limited risk. If that is so, i like a raise here.
But with position, calling is not bad either. Risks giving a cheap card to a FD and having to shut down to action on a spade turn, but also limits the damage if one villain has hit big. With the stats as stated, i like a call a little more. They will tell you what they have on the turn. |
